Your dishwasher filter needs to be cleaned on a regular basis. We recommend monthly to keep your dishwasher performing at its best. The filter works to trap loose food particles and debris from being redeposited onto your dishes.
Some dishwashers have 1 filter. Newer model filters tend to have 2 types of filters – an upper filter (cylinder shaped) and lower filter (flat filter that is positioned underneath the upper filter). To remove the upper filter, twist in an anti-clockwise position to unlock it, then pull up gently to remove it. If you have a secondary filter, this can be removed by pulling up.
Step 1: Remove your filters.
Step 2: Rinse under running water, then use a soft bristled brush and detergent to remove any debris.
Step 3: Before replacing your filter, check if there are any food particles in the filter housing and clean.
Step 4: Replace filters. The upper filter usually needs to be turned counter-clockwise to lock it into place.
After giving your filters a clean, why not give your dishwasher a deep clean to remove any smelly odours? Start by scrubbing the inside of your dishwasher with hot soapy water before wiping door racks and the door gasket.
Next run a vinegar cycle. Run a full hot water cycle with 2 cups of white vinegar added to the bottom. The acidic properties of vinegar will help will cut through grease and remove detergent build up and deposits. used for their fresh scent and anti-microbial properties. Once clean, leave the door open, then, let your dishwasher air dry completely. It is a good idea to do this periodically.
The dishwasher filter is located at the bottom of your dishwasher, under the bottom rack.
