How often should I clean my air conditioner filter?
Air conditioner filters clean and filter particles in the air that circulate through your heating and cooling system. Filters collect particles and contaminants that could affect your health and wellbeing. These include dirt, pollen, mould, lint and bacteria.
With regular and consistent use, dust accumulates on the filter. Air flow and performance can be restricted if left unchecked and dirty. Cleaning your filter at the start of each season means better energy efficiency and much cleaner air for your home.
You can clean your air conditioner in 7 easy steps. Check out our handy blog guide.
If you want to reach ‘hard to get’ places, consider a Quick Clean Kit. This effective special cleaning adaptor is easy to use. It ensures efficient dust free operation of your air conditioner.
How often do I need to replace my air conditioner filter?
This depends on how frequently you use your air conditioner. If you haven’t changed your air conditioner filter in a long time there may be some signs to indicate its time to replace it. If the back of your air conditioning unit is too hot it could indicate a clogged filter. Likewise, if your air conditioner is not cooling as it normally does and or is blowing warm air and a regular clean if your filter does not fix the issue, it may be time to replace. Worn and damaged filters should also be immediately replaced. Some manufacturers recommend replacing your air conditioner filter every 6-12 months. Check your manufacturers instructions for more information.
