Sharp cutlery, cracks, wear and tear can cause damage to your cutlery basket. A damaged or cracked basket can impact the cleaning results of your cutlery.
For the best results, place forks and spoons handle-first, with the prongs and spoons facing upwards. To avoid any cuts or accidents, sharp knives should be placed downwards in the cutlery basket. Mix the utensils up in each section of the basket to avoid spoons and forks nesting.
Remove your cutlery basket and run under hot water. Using a soft bristled brush and detergent, lightly scrub to remove any leftover food particles or debris.
Give your dishwasher a deep clean to remove any smelly odours. Start by scrubbing the inside of your dishwasher with hot soapy water before wiping door racks and the door gasket.
Next run a vinegar cycle. Run a full hot water cycle with 2 cups of white vinegar added to the bottom. The acidic properties of vinegar will help will cut through grease and remove detergent build up and deposits. Once clean, leave the door open, then, let your dishwasher air dry completely.
Descaling your dishwasher will help return your unit to its peak efficiency – it’s also a great way to deodorise and clean your appliance! A descaler will effectively remove limescale and grime. We recommend Aktivo Dishwasher/Washer Descaler.
