How to replace your fridge globe

If your fridge light globe no longer lights up, it’s time to change it. This is quick DIY task with easy install. Be sure to replace with a globe that is specifically designed for a refrigerator (usually incandescent or LED) – they can handle lower temperatures and are shatterproof.

Safety first! Before you get started switch off the power from the main power source and unplug your fridge.

Step 1:   Remove the fridge bulb cover. This can be gently pulled off. If this is held in place with screws, simply unscrew it.
Step 2:   Remove the old bulb and screw the new one into place.
Step 3:   Refit the bulb cover.
Step 4:   Plug your power back in and check that your globe is working.

Checking if your fridge globe is at fault

If your refrigerator light is not coming on, a burnt-out light globe is the likely culprit. Sometimes other factors cause your fridge globe to stop working. These include:

• A power interruption such as a power outage or tripped circuit breaker.
• Faulty door switch.

Find the right globe for your refrigerator

• To find the right globe for your fridge, you will first need your model number.
• If unsure where to find your model number, check out our guide. Most manufacturers will not make you have to pull your fridge out to obtain model information on the back of it. Although it may be on the back, there is most likely a second copy (simpler version) on the inside of the fridge. If it is not located on the side of the door once you open it, look for it on the front edge of the fridge/freezer cabinet.
