If your pressure cooker is leaking steam and water, try our simple fixes.
1. Double check that the lid is properly closed and sealed tightly.
2. Clean your pressure cooker’s whistle. The whistle regulates the amount of steam coming out of your pressure cooker. You can clean it with water and a little vinegar. Scrub impurities and particles with a soft bristled brush.
3. Make sure you are not overfilling your pot. Check the manufacturer’s instructions for their recommendation.
4. Check to see if your seal (or gasket) is clean and free from any damage or wear and tear. Replace a faulty seal.
5. Lastly, check all components such as the lid and pot are free from any cracks or damage.
Before you start, make sure your pressure cooker has cooled down and is unplugged.
1. Clean the base by wiping down the exterior with a damp cloth, paying close attention to food spills and crumbs. Wipe dry with a soft cloth. Use a soft brush to clean any hard to reach or recessed areas.
2. Wash the inner bowl and steam rack with warm, soapy water.
3. Next tackle the lid. Remove the anti-block shield and silicon sealing ring first and clean in warm, soapy water. Then, give the lid a wash (or place in your dishwasher).
4. Once all the components are clean and dry, reassemble.
A pressure cooker is made of 3 major components – the lid, the base and the inner pot.
