It is relatively easy to change your oven door hinge. You will need a few tools and a little know-how.
Oven door hinges are pretty sturdy and designed to last. If you put too much weight on the door when it is open, you can spring the hinge. Over time, a worn-out door hinge may need replacing.
Before you start, make sure you disconnect your oven from the power source. If your oven is hardwired, turn off the oven’s circuit breaker. This will ensure your safety when working with electrical elements
First you will need to remove your oven door
1. Open the oven door to the fully opened position.
2. With the door fully open, you will see the metal door hinge locks in the bottom left and bottom right corner of your oven.
3. To disengage your hinge locks, you can flip up the hinge locks. In some instances, the hinges may be a little tight so you may need to use a flat head screwdriver to help flip the locks.
4. With the hinge locks disengaged, grab edges of your oven door firmly using two hands.
5. Now lift the door and lean it inward, then pull the oven door towards you to remove.
6. Set the oven door on a towel or work surface, with the oven door resting on its handle.
7. Open the oven door to the fully opened position.
Replace your oven hinges
1. Remove all screws that hold the inner and outer panels together
2. Depending on your oven model, you may need to remove the handle as well.
3. Unscrew and remove the hinges.
4. Install your new hinges and secure all screws into place.
How to install your oven door
1. Grab the edges of your oven door using two hands at the midpoint mark and face the oven.
2. Locate the notches in your door hinge and ensure they align with the slots on each side of the oven cavity
3. At a 45° angle, align door hinges with slots in lower front of oven cavity. Slowly insert door while maintaining a 45° angle. The oven door will be in engaged in the slot when you feel a slight drop.
4. Next lower the oven door to fully open position.
5. Flip (or rotate) the door hinge locks all the way into place into the locked position.
6. Close the oven door.
7. Inspect to ensure that there is an even gap between your door and the control panel.
